چکیده

Abstract An experimental and numerical study of the convective heat transfer enhancement provided by two rib families (W Broken W) is presented, covering Reynolds numbers (Re) between 300,000 to 900,000 in a straight channel with rectangular cross section (AR=1.29). These high were selected for current since most data available literature typically pertain investigations at lower numbers. The objective this assess local coefficient (HTC) (compared smooth channel) overall thermal performance, taking into account effect increased roughness on friction factor, group W shaped turbulators over wide range Furthermore, effects increasing spacing performance configuration are presented discussed. results compared against measurements obtained using Transient Liquid Crystal (TLC) method. research shows that turbulators, number associated an decrease while relatively insensitive number. Nevertheless, delivers higher Re investigated. pitch 10 times height was shown provide optimal configurations investigated here.

Decay of turbulence at high reynolds numbers.

Turbulent motions in a fluid decay at a certain rate once stirring has stopped. The role of the most basic parameter in fluid mechanics, the Reynolds number, in setting the decay rate is not generally known. This Letter concerns the high-Reynolds-number limit of the process. In a classical grid-turbulence wind-tunnel experiment that both reaches higher Reynolds numbers than ever before and cove...

Viscous Flow at High Reynolds Numbers

Let us first give a heuristic estimates of boundary layer in steady flows. Consider a particle near the wall to be influenced by viscosity. After traveling a distance x from the edge, it has been under viscous influence for a time of t = x/U . Let U be large. For finite x, t is small so that vorticity is spread sideways to the width (νt) ∼ (νx/U). Let us define this width to be the boundary lay...

Numerical Study of Coupled Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in a Rectangular Domain at Moderate Reynolds Numbers using the Control Volume ‎Method

In this paper, we have used a control volume method to investigate the problem of a fully coupled fluid flow with heat transfer in a rectangular domain with slip wall boundary conditions. We have used this method to solve the governing equations and thereby to compute the convective and diffusive fluxes at the cell faces of the control volumes considered around the grid points of computational ...
